Syrian rebel, fighter
For the ouster of Assad,
Yes, war can strain the soul,
But how could you let your goal
And your heart be corrupted
By your lust for victory?

Acts of cannibalism
Filmed and posted on the web
To intimidate your foes;
Yes, war strips you of yourself,
But humanity's last shred
Is something worth protecting

You would gladly accept aide
From the U.S., yet you fight
Beside al-Qaeda members.
Regarding grim history
How can a trust be formed
From such a contradiction?

Of course, an American
Who has never known combat
Cannot fully understand
What this war has done to you.
When its final days have come,
Would hope still dwell within your heart?
I know not all the rebels are committing acts of cannibalism, but I wrote this to address the extremes that some of them have gone to in the war, to play devil's advocate for the first letter.

You know that T. E. Lawrence did know something about Syria over one century?

Of course. And he had warned about the Muslims too.

Yeah I think the U.S. should just stop fucking around in the Middle East, complicating something that's already a cluster fuck.

you know what's the  most annoying part of this so called revolution? it's how the young generation, at least some of it is following it blindly calling it a jihad claiming it'd free them when all it'd do is make syria worse than afganistan. like this guy who replied to you below.

'we'll free syria we're not heading for another tyrant rule'

sure body you're only gonna let Al Qaeda take command instead.
fuck logic amirite?

both parties are evil right now. so it's coming down to picking the lesser evil for the country. the rebels are just as horrible as assad at this point

To quote two stanzas from my own piece "The Problem With Revolution", which addresses this same issue (and the much larger so-called 'Arab Spring', which many people predicted right from the start would turn into nothing but a Winter of Fundamentalism and Jihad):

Predators with agendas,
Will swoop in for the kill,
And the cowardly scavengers,
Will eat more than their fill.

And what's removed by the revolution,
Is replaced with the curse,
Of a brand-old order,
That's invariably worse.

Not a problem. As for the Middle East, I'm not the first one to say that we need to learn once and for all that democracy does NOT work in that part of the world. Once we internalise that particular lesson, the second one we need to figure out is that we have absolutely NO business over there. They don't want us, they don't need us, and they sure as Hell don't like us.

They can get rid of Assad, but there is another just like him waiting to take over.  Notice how Egypt is no better off? I wish for something better for the Middle East, but it seems that I wont see it in my lifetime.

Yeah, it is all too depressing that the  Middle east is in that state of existence. Thank you for the fave, by the way.

we can get rid of Assad ourselves when the world stop supporting him with Arms & Rockets & Warplanes
and if you think that Syrian revolution will lead to another tyrant such like Ass-ad ,, make sure you haven't studied the SYRIAN REVO history as well as it is
oh really you wish 4 smthin better 4 middle east ?? ok here is an info that USA & Europe Union are the main reason for all wars going in there

why USA don't arms syrian fighters to get rid of Assad soon & end this "mess" happening there & save innocent ppl
or send anti - warplanes to fighters there or do a safe fly zone to protect syrians if they care for humans rights
USA & other World of your Middle -WEST are the ones who really need wishing for something better for them to think of humanity instead of thinking of their interests

we, Syrians , have opened a gate to heaven and it won't be closed till we achieve the aim we want,, inshallah
thank you for sending depressed words to the wrong ears , by the way
